One of the hawtest looks that continues to styleslap home design is the salon style gallery wall, SSGW. Yassssss GURL! It's such a fun, impactful & EASY way to add FULL ON LYFE to your space. And there's technically no rules in how to create a SSGW which is why I believe they're that hit song that you don't mind having on repeat for dayzzz. Today, along with my bff, Chairish, we're gonna show y'all how to make your own pop up art gallery using an armoire! Oh y'all read that right...time to TAKE Y'ALL THERE!
Ingredients needed: armoire, art, fav song on a loop. Oh and maybe a glass of your fav bev-- adult or no, that's up to you & there are no judgements on Blog A Dazzle. Let's proceed. Here's the armoire I'm working with, but check out all the armoires Chairish has on offer here:
Dayum...Ok I'm sorry Chairish-- I guess your not holding back today. Y'all is this not the chic-est black & white bad azz armoire betch y'all have seen? Get her here . So once composure has been regained, imagine this lady or whatever armoire y'all are WERKIN with in your space, has had the top cleared away of any items. Totally empty. And the wall immediately above said armoire is also empty. Y'all guessed it-- This space is becoming our art gallery! Using advanced laser technology here's what we end up with:
GET IT! It's a little tricky to see b/c my laser technology hasn't advanced yet, but I'm using the top of the armoire to carve out a pop up gallery (using artwork avail on Chairish, of course!). I'd hang some of the pieces on the wall above the armoire, like the smaller collage on the upper right side (avail here):
Then the larger pastel painting (avail here) would hang on the on the left:
Next, I'd place the bright gold framed Chinoiserie print (avail here) atop the armoire & rest it against the wall, which gives the gallery a layered, relaxed vibe:
The gold sculpture (avail here) is yet another layer that's giving us some three dimensionality that goes right on top of the armoire too:
This further illustrates the idea that the top of your armoire can and should do double duty as a display ledge. Gurlzzz we lurv us some DD, Double Duty on Blog A Dazzle, in decor & LYFE.
Y'all this project is super easy, fun and can really refresh the look of your space (& armoire) w/ minimal effort. And if y'all don't want to buy any art, that's fine too: use what you already have to create your own fab SSGW. Think about varying both the scale of your selected pieces of artwork and the type, and maybe even a theme (like I did above w/color) so you create a well curated, interesting mix. Meaning? Incorporate a grouping of paintings, photography, prints, sculptures-- some framed and some not-- that are both hung on the wall and sitting/leaning atop your armoire. Got it? OK Becky, now you share and show us what you're working with and let's all got get our SSGW ON! YASSSSSSS!
