Last week I helped my fab friend & actress Carly Hughes (@CarlyT101 & @CarlyHughes101) chic up her dressing room. Carly's the new Leading Player in Pippin on Broadway-- amaze-- so PROUD of her! Go see her and the entire cast in this INCREDIBLE SHOW! This atrociousness was what we inherited:
Trust there's more to this, but I don't want to overwhelm y'all with all the HORRORS at once. Let's pace that drama out, OK, this IS Bway afterall.
So, painting walls wasn't an option for us. But never one to be deterred by a "no paint" mandate, I just style-slapped that shiot with some artist & washi tape and Carly's glam shopping bag collection to create a feature wall. Here's our wall where it's about to GO OFF-- y'all can already see bits of chic slung around, yes?
I started with the Coach bag, b/c it was the largest in her collection and I wanted to offset the large 'C' metal sculpture. The yellow artist tape picks up the yellow in her throw pillow. From there, I began adding more of her bags to the walls and played with different washi and artist tapes for visual interest. Lucky for me, Betch likes to SHOP-- Damn-- so I had a lot to play with!
I varied the way I taped the bags, so there'd be more variety...I also tucked & pulled each of the bags' handles taut so there wouldn't be a mish mash of handles hanging all over the place.
Cute:
Y'all could do this same treatment using photos, posters, cards, tears from magazines...whateve's.
Such a quick, easy and fun way to style out your walls without having to paint! LURV! Stay tuned for more Carly #dressingroomdreamzzz HAWTNESS!
